Blackstar Amplification was founded by a group of ex-Marshall employees in 2007. Most notable amongst these was former Marshall Chief Design Engineer Bruce Keir, who is now Blackstar's Technical Director. The company's products are designed in the UK and manufactured in China.
Their award-winning amplifier lines include the Series One, a professional all-valve line designed to withstand the rigours of touring, and the ID:Series, a solid-state range that includes a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to model a range of power valve responses at volumes to match their all-valve counterparts. For players somewhere in the middle, the ID:Core line brings all the flexibility of the ID:Series, and marries it to high-powered, lightweight combos that are perfect for lugging to gigs.
Even more portable is the company's range of Fly 3 amplifiers. These tiny 3-watt beasties pack overdrive, EQ, and a DSP tape delay into a package the size of a lunch box. Pair one with an extension cabinet and you have a 6-watt stereo set-up that fits in a backpack and can function as incredibly-accurate portable/computer speakers with the MP3 / LINE IN.
