RCF was established by Reggio Emilia in Italy in 1949 for the purpose of designing and producing ribbon microphones. Soon, however, the company began designing and manufacturing transducers (the bits that convert energy to vibrations and vice-versa) for professional applications. By the 1960s, the company had gone global, supplying a number of speaker manufacturers in the USA and Europe with its proprietary, high-power transducers.

In the 1970s, the company launched a line of hi-fi cabinets and amplifiers for home use, with the BR 40 becoming a speaker by which others would be measured for decades to come. The 1980s saw the company expand into carbon fibre car speakers, before finally entering the pro audio market in the '90s with its own line of loudspeakers and monitors. This culminated in the release of the ART 300-A in 1996.

A massive milestone for the loudspeaker market, the ART 300-A was made from composite materials that made it fantastically light, while still maintaining exceptional sound quality. This innovation has carried over to RCF's range today, and the ART series is still a go-to speaker for professional audio applications. You really can't go wrong with RCF.
