The legendary Höfner Cavern Bass is celebrating its 60th birthday - Made in Germany since 1961! The Anniversary Edition is limited to only 60 pieces (50 x right & 10 x left handed basses). All basses are individually numbered on the back of the headstock as well as on the certificate.
The 1961 Höfner 500/1 derives its name from the Cavern Club in Liverpool, which opened in 1957. The Cavern Club was one of the most popular venues in Europe for newcomer bands from the Beatboom era. In 1960 Ringo Starr played in Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, before the Beatles stepped into the limelight of the Cavern Club as representatives of the 'Merseybeat' scene in mid-1961.
Inspired by the '61 model that Paul McCartney bought in Hamburg. Full resonance body, original '61 neck dimensions.
